The Jurassic Coast has yielded hundreds of scientifically important specimens over more than 200 years of fossil collecting. Many of these specimens have been the subject of research by experts and many fossils from the Jurassic Coast can be found in museum and centre displays across the UK and the world. Although the Lower Lias rocks of Dorset have been studied for over 200 years, discoveries that are new to science are still unearthed on this amazing stretch of the Jurassic Coast.
Once a specimen is recorded on this website it will be checked by palaeontologists at the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and then made visible to the public and experts. Should a researcher or museum be interested in more details about a find you have submitted we will contact the finder with contact details of the interested party. Personal details of the finder are not passed on to interested parties by us.
For any enquiries regarding recorded specimens please contact the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.
